Creating 3D Grass with Houdini Fur Systems
In this tutorial, we are creating 3D grass using SideFX Houdini Software.
We start by creating a grid to represent the ground and add a deformer to add a little bit of noise so that the ground is not perfectly smooth. Next, on the hair tab, we click on add fur button then select the grid we created and press enter. Now that we have the fur applied we adjust the color in the new fur node. The next step is to adjust the attributes in the fur not to get a better representation of how the grass looks. Finally, we set up the scene to render by creating an environment light and then we can do our render.
As a bonus, we can also make the 3d grass dynamic. We do this by pressing add dynamics in the hair tab of the shelf bar. Once we do this we can adjust the stiffness of the grass in the fur node in the dynamics tab.
